hangin out in the sunshine

sort of.

It's gorgeous out there. Truly.

This is what I'm missing out on. K and L are outside playing. Zoe woke up so snotted up and her eye was stuck together. And Turtle is coughing and sneezing. Plus, I am still on these pain killers and they knock me out big style. I get super drowsy. So I'm staying indoors today.

The air smells gorgeous, and we're still enjoying getting into the spirit of Summertime. This was from the webcam about 90 seconds ago.

Nebraska weather is so weird

I don't know if I'll ever get over how different the weather is here compared to Scotland. Especially how fast the weather can change!

A few days ago we were playing in the yard in the snow, sledding down the hill with coats and gloves and hats. We had to come in after a short while because it was so cold our hands were swelling up and getting red.

Today the snow is gone, the sun is shining. It says it's 50 degrees but it sure feels hotter. We've had to take our coats off outside because it's too darn hot. We're going for extra drinks of cool water and playing outside.

For Scotland, it takes half a year to reach the temperature extremes we've reached in the span of 4 days. I love it! Keeps you on your toes.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Man, talk about keeping me in suspence. 50% chance. So in other words, either it's gonna snow or it's not.

Iced in

Rene's home today. His work called this morning and told him they were closed today, and that he should stay home and not drive.

We've been hit by the midwest winter storm, and the place is covered in ice. I've never seen anything like it. Our time in Maine, it was so cold it wasn't raining, just snowing, so the ice wasn't as bad. In Scotland it mostly just rained and didn't freeze up like this, cause it was warmer.

But this was wild. It was raining last night, and starting to melt the snow, then overnight all the rain froze, and then it snowed a little more on top of the rain. Making for extremely dangerous driving conditions! I don't think we'd have been able to get the car out of the drive if we tried. It's super super slippy out there. Many schools and business have been closed today. Not many cars on the road. It's quiet.

Our tree out front has a bunch of branches trailing the ground, because of the weight of the ice.

I think it looks so beautiful out there though. I love the icicles. Here are some pics.

This is the girls' scooter, burried under crunchy, slippy ice.

Thankful for snow!

It's snowing here today! Yeah! Here are some pics I just took.

We're about to leave soon to head for Minnesota, so I won't be posting here for a couple of days.

The weather in Nebraska is so weird

Today it's 80 degrees outside (27 celcius), warm, clear blue sky and blazing sunshine. Beautiful day!

By Monday it's supposed to be 45 degrees (7 degrees celsius) and rainy!

I love that it's unpredictable though. I like the element of surprise. :)

And here's a random photo from last month.

The heat is on

Fall has finally fallen here in Lincoln. Last night we put the heating on for the first time since moving here. I put it on again for a few minutes this morning at breakfast. Getting chilly. It's kind of exciting.
